Core Session: Course Assignments & Feedback (Victoria Russell, Center for Teaching and Jerry Slezak, Digital Learning Support)
This session will review the basic information around planning assignments and feedback in online learning environments. You will learn about drafting an assessment map, creating a low-stakes assessment in Canvas Quizzes, and digital tools to provide audio, video, and written feedback. It is recommended for any faculty member, but especially those that have not taught online before.
Help! Asynchronous Online Discussion Posts: How Can We Make Them Effective Without Zapping Faculty’s Time and Energy? (Alex Dunn, COB)
This session focuses on improving online discussion posts while preserving faculty time and resources. This session will focus on 1) creating engaging discussion posts (responses are only as good as the prompt!), 2) peer-to-peer and faculty-to-peer engagement, 3) best practices regarding fair and efficient grading, and 4) how to provide feedback in a timely manner. Best practices will be shared, but this session will also create for time for discussion as well as attendees to share their discussion post successes.
Oral Communication Assignments Online (Anand Rao, CAS-Communication and Digital Studies)
In this workshop, Anand Rao will discuss some options for adapting your SI-related assignment to remote delivery, including suggestions for individual and group presentations, debates, and discussion.
