UMW Learning Collaborative
UMW Blogs is a publishing platform available to any member of the University of Mary Washington community. Built with the open-source software WordPress, it allows any faculty member, student, or staff employee to create a blog, a course or project site to begin building their web presence. It is a fast and easy way to get started with WordPress and minimizes the amount of administrative work because updates are handled by UMW Blogs admins.
Whether you are starting this account for a class or for your own project here are some examples of what you can do:
We also have another platform, Domain of One’s Own, that might be a good fit for your project. If you need more control over the look and feel of your website or would like to use something other than WordPress than Domain of One’s Own might be a good fit for you. Learn more about the difference between the DoOO and UMW Blogs in our guide.
Currently all the UMW Blogs guides can be found on the Domains website. There you’ll find guides on Getting Started alongside guides for how to use the platform.
